چکیده
The purpose of this study was to determine left ventricular activation, dispersion of refractoriness, and total recovery time in patients with coronary artery disease and ventricular tachycardia and in patients with the long QT syndrome and to compare these patients with a group of normal patients. Left ventricular endocardial catheter mapping and left ventricular refractory period determination were performed in 18 patients. Group 1 consisted of seven patients with no heart disease and no arrhythmia; group 2 consisted of six patients with previous infarction and sustained ventricular tachycardia; and group 3 consisted of five patients with prolonged QT interval and previous cardiac arrest. Total left ventricular endocardial activation was significantly longer in group 2 (75 +/- 23 msec, mean +/- SD) compared with group 1 (34 +/- 9 msec, p less than 0.01) and group 3 (42 +/- 5 msec, p less than 0.05). Dispersion of refractoriness was significantly greater in group 3 (87 +/- 27 msec) than in group 1 (40 +/- 14 msec, p less than 0.01) and group 2 (53 +/- 14 msec, p less than 0.05). Dispersion of total recovery time was significantly greater in group 2 (90 +/- 30 msec) than in group 1 (52 +/- 14 msec, p less than 0.05) as well as group 3 (114 +/- 43 msec) compared with group 1 (p less than 0.01).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Effects of ectopic pacing on repolarization of the chicken left ventricle.
Effects of ectopic pacing on left ventricular repolarization were studied in six anesthetized open-chest chickens. In each animal, unipolar electrograms were acquired from as many as 98 sites with 14 plunge needles (seven transmural locations between epicardium and endocardium in each needle). Activation-recovery intervals (ARIs), corrected to the cycle length, were used for estimating repolari...

Background & Aims: The expression of myocardium gene can be affected by endurance activity; besides, sox6 transcription factor influences its formation. This study aimed to investigate the effect of 14 weeks of endurance activity on expression of sox6 gene of left ventricle in male Wistar rats. Methods: Forteen rats were housed under the controlled conditions and after adjusting with endurance ...

Introduction: Regular exercise training with alternating volume fluctuatesblood glucous levels and by regulating signaling in gene expression reduces in myocardial cell apoptosis in diabetic patients. The purpose of this study was the effect of 8 weeks of high intensity interval training on the gene expression of BAX and BCL-2 in the left ventricle of diabetic rats. Methods: The present study ...

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 6 weeks of detraining after 12 weeks of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on the expression of AKT1 and mTORc1 genes in the left ventricle of wistar diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty-eight wistar male rats were selected as the study sample and were divided in four groups of healthy control, diabetic control, dia...
متن کاملComparison of the effects of two types of high intensity interval training on the gene expression of collagen 1, 2, and SMAD/3 in the left ventricle of male rats in type 2 diabetes induced by streptozotocin
Background and Objective: High-intensity interval training reduces diabetic cardiomyopathy by regulating gene expression in patients with diabetes. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of two types of high intensity interval training on the expression of collagen 1, 2 and SMAD/3 genes in the left ventricle of male rats with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: The present study w...
